£19,429 a year Upon successful completion of probationary period, you will receive the Foundation Living Wage - £24,310 (Entrants aged over 21 years old will automatically receive the Foundation Living Wage rate)

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
We have 3 teams you will be working across:
Environmental Protection: looking after the regulation, protection and monitoring of environmental pollution including air, water, land and noise pollution.
Public Protection: responsible for the protection of public health through inspection, monitoring and regulation of food, water and the environment including private sector housing.
Licensing: overseeing the regulation of any licensable activity to ensure compliance with the licensing objectives, including personal and premises licences, taxi, scrap metal dealers, betting establishments etc.
What you’ll do at work
* Provide information, guidance and advice to businesses on how to comply with legislation or meet audit requirements
* Collect and analyse business data to build a picture of business compliance
* Conduct risk assessments and highlight hazards which may result in non-compliance by the business
* Writing reports following inspections or audits
* Managing relationships with businesses and providing customer service
* Network with NKDC colleagues and other apprentices
* Preparation and presentation of a corporate project to our Senior Management Team

Course contents
* Plan and deliver compliance support services in line with business expectation
* Carry out activities in line with their organisations regulatory outcomes - ensuring business prosperity and consumer/environmental protection
* Work within the organisations policies and procedures and the law
* Assess regulatory risks and use risk assessment to guide their activities and target resources
* Gather, analyse, use and share data to inform risk assessment
* Engage constructively with business and tailor their approach to businesses that they interact with
* Take account of the provisions of statutory Codes in order to engage effectively with businesses
* Plan their compliance support activities so as to deliver their responsibilities efficiently
* Work as part of a team building and maintaining good working relationships with both business and regulator stakeholders
* Make appropriate intervention choices to have the greatest impact on supporting compliance
* Take a proportionate approach to intervention choice
* Work effectively with other organisations
* Prepare appropriately for checks on compliance

* Provide appropriate support for those adversely affected by non-compliance
* Having sound judgement. This includes making decisions about the relevance, quality and accuracy of the information available and using and sharing it appropriately
* Monitor and report on their activities and performance
* Evaluate their activities in relation to their regulatory objectives and their organisations strategic priorities
* Use IT systems to manage, share and store information in accordance with data protection requirements where appropriate
* Use digital technologies to communicate with and support partner organisations and regulated entities
* Use digital competencies to support the regulation of online markets
Your training plan
At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
The apprenticeship will be delivered remotely by Clear Quality Ltd, including online lectures, online guided learning and assignments.
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
* English (grade C/4)
* Mathematics (grade C/4)
A Level in:
* 1 A-Level, preferably in a science-based topic (grade Pass)
