Electrical Supervisor
Location: Cheltenham
Salary: To c£40k neg dep exp + benefits
Our client has been established for more than 30 years and is a global market leader in the provision of the highest quality infrastructure solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2024, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Electrical Supervisor.
Based in Cheltenham and reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will supervise both Junior and Senior Electricians, ensuring day-to-day site compliance with relevant industry standards and legislation, including (but not limited to) Health & Safety, COSHH, fire regulations, facilities management, and general safe working practices. Working in a very much "hands-on" manner, you will use your skills, qualifications, and experience to conduct electrical installation, testing, and commissioning as required to support the demands of the portfolio fleet, envisaged to be an 80% hands-on / 20% planning and supervisory split.
As Electrical Supervisor, you will liaise closely with the Fleet Department and Production Managers to ensure the electrical services within all units are maintained to a safe and regulatory compliant standard. You will develop and implement an electrical testing regime to ensure that all units meet British Standards (or European / International standards as appropriate) and HSE requirements, implementing a certification process to demonstrate compliance to all clients, prospective clients, and regulatory bodies. You will also effectively plan the electrical resource requirements, including labor and materials, to meet those requirements.
Able to adopt best practice asset planning and lean principles wherever possible to achieve reduced lead times and continuous improvement, you will demonstrate previous experience of working with tenders and potential suppliers to ensure the best value and the most effective solutions to issues or problems are identified. When required, you will take scopes of work (SoW) and design drawings provided and develop associated electrical schemes that can be accurately costed. For projects that are not commercially viable, you will provide accurate documentation that will allow works to be tendered out to external contractors.
Other duties will include (but not be limited to) calculating electrical loads to ensure electrical infrastructure/schemes support the electrical demands of the equipment within the installation, reviewing the electrical configuration of units to maximize electrical standardization, and maximizing the standardization of electrical components across the whole portfolio fleet. You will provide electrical installation advice to the Company as required and ensure that sufficient stock is held to enable the timely and proper completion of work while minimizing stock levels and reusing as much electrical material as possible to minimize environmental impact as well as costs.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this varied and challenging Electrical Supervisor role within a fast-paced and professional environment, you will essentially be fully qualified 17th/18th Edition (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) with proven experience in electrical installation & maintenance (with Commercial Kitchens & Modular buildings experience proving distinctly advantageous). With good knowledge of Health and Safety requirements relating to the sector and C&G 2391 or 2394/5 testing & inspection or equivalent, you will hold a full UK driving license and at least 3 years of supervisory experience (ideally holding a nationally accredited certificate or diploma in supervisory management).
