The Role
Working within the electrical engineering team, the support engineer will be the primary point of contact for support on electrical issues from the other departments. The support engineer will help to resolve emerging problems, improve processes between departments, support new products in manufacture, create technical documentation including drawings, specifications and reports as well as provide support to suppliers and sub-contractors.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure they have all the documentation required to manufacture and test systems / sub systems
2. Create production documentation for new and legacy products
3. Ensure any manufacturing issues are fed back to the design team
4. Troubleshoot and resolve any manufacturing issues
Work closely with Procurement to:
1. Provide technical support for the supply of electrical equipment and services
2. Support / Witness supplier and sub-contractor FAT tests
3. Assess capability of potential suppliers
4. Develop strategic partners and build relationships
Work closely with Design to:
1. Feedback manufacturing issues
2. Update / maintain drawings to an as built status
3. Contribute to design reviews to identify any manufacturing or procurement issues
4. Help inform make / buy decisions
Work closely with Engineering Support Team to:
1. Provide post design electrical support
2. Resolve obsolescence issues
Requirements
1. A proven track record of electrical assembly or test skills
2. Experience of working within multi disciplined teams
3. Writing technical documentation and specifications
4. Proficient in the use of MS Office products
5. Knowledge of related standards, in particular BS, EN, IEC and 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations
6. Ability to work on your own or as part of a team
7. Be able to pro-actively and effectively prioritise your workload in a high-pressure environment to deliver results
8. Have self-discipline, motivation and the ability overcome problems as they arise
9. Degree Educated in Control / Electrical Engineering or relevant Apprenticeship with HNC
