Position Overview: Knovva Academy is seeking a Curriculum Developer to support the launch of our LabNova initiative. The Curriculum Developer will be a subject area expert who plays a critical role in the success of this exciting new program. The LabNova initiative by Knovva Academy is an innovative program designed to bridge the gaps in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education for high school students. Recognizing the importance of hands-on experience and mentorship, LabNova aims to provide motivated students with the opportunity to gain practical lab training under the guidance of esteemed mentors. Collaborating with partner universities and organizations, LabNova offers a comprehensive program of up to four years with a transformative academic and professional experience. This program is specifically tailored for students with a strong interest and aptitude in STEM subjects. Responsibilities : Designing and delivering a virtual instructional program for high school students preparing to serve as interns in a university lab setting. Topics to be covered include essential lab-based competencies, such as the scientific method, safety protocols, and equipment usage. The curriculum shall also provide students with an introduction to the fields of molecular, circuit, and systems neuroscience, including modern research techniques, decision making, and social behavior. Developing a comprehensive curriculum consisting of lesson plans, presentations, syllabi, videos, assessments, supporting materials, and other resources using appropriate pedagogical theories and methods. Utilizing innovative and creative instructional approaches to design an engaging virtual learning experience. Collaborating with LabNova team members and our university partners to ensure the curriculum is meeting the program’s needs and goals. Facilitating or recording virtual instructional sessions for LabNova participants. Qualifications: Advanced degree in Biology or neuroscience or related field. Master’s degree or Ph.D. degree preferred, bachelor’s degree required. Previous teaching experience with high school students is preferred. 2 years experience in curriculum design required. Familiarity with best educational practices for digital learning. Flexibility and adaptability with remote working arrangements. Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely. Strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience working in an international and multicultural environment. The Curriculum Developer is a project-based contractor role.
