Join our dynamic Inpatient and PICU team at Highbury Hospital as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
Nottinghamshire Healthcare is a leading NHS Foundation Trust committed to providing exceptional care to patients across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and South Yorkshire. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant to contribute to our Adult Mental Health Service. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with a diverse range of mental health conditions.
This post is pending Royal College approval.
An RRP of 20% of the minimum point of the National Consultant (2003) contract will be paid for this post.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be GMC registered with proven expertise in General Adult Psychiatry. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, provide clinical leadership, and actively participate in the development and implementation of innovative treatment plans. Job responsibilities
* Manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff.
* Ensure junior medical staff operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
* Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
* Record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively.
* Participate in service and business planning activity.
* Participate in annual appraisal for consultants.
* Attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust.
* Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council.
* Participate annually in a job plan review.
* Work with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of services.
* Comply with the Trust's agreed policies, procedures, and financial instructions.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Approved under section 12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* In good standing with GMC.
Transport
* Holds and will use valid UK driving license OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Excellent knowledge in specialty.
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
* Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
* Makes decisions based on evidence and experience.
* Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
* Wide range of specialist experience relevant to post.
Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning
* Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training.
* Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working.
* Participated in continuous professional development.
* Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement.
