My client is a well-established and rapidly growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) with over 10 years of experience working with international clients. As they continue to expand their presence in the UK market, they are seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Service Engineer to join their dynamic team. Role Overview: As a Field Service Engineer, you will spend two days a week on-site with a client near Southampton, and the remainder of the week working as part of their Service Desk team in a 2nd line support capacity. You will report directly to the Head of Projects while on customer sites and work under the Service Desk Manager when at the office. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1st and 2nd line support at the client site. Provide 2nd line support through the service desk. Deliver outstanding customer service through effective ticket management. Work collaboratively on customer sites, integrating seamlessly with the existing IT team. Utilise Remote Monitoring Tools for proactive maintenance and support. Respond efficiently to customer requests and enquiries, adhering to agreed timescales and escalation procedures. Create and update technical documentation, advising clients on IT updates and changes. Troubleshoot and maintain infrastructure, including laptops, workstations, servers, and networking equipment. Essential Requirements: Proven 2nd line experience in a Service Desk environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Understand and adhere to agreed timescales, recognise the need for escalation, and demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills. Hands-on experience with Office 365 Cloud services (Email, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive). Expertise in Microsoft domain infrastructure (Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, etc.). Experience with backup solutions and a solid understanding of networking fundamentals. Own a car for travel to datacentres and client locations. Desirable Skills: Confidence in communicating with diverse audiences and third-party vendors. Experience with public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure). Knowledge of switches, firewalls, and routers. Ability to document third-party applications and support service providers.
