To ensure the smooth operation, servicing and maintenance of adapted vehicles for disabled adults and staff rotas.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Inspecting transport vehicles, ensuring their safety and checking to see if they need maintenance work.
2. Arranging repairs of vehicles.
3. Accessing electronic reporting systems to ensure vehicle repairs are actioned and feedback given to staff.
4. Using electronic tracking systems to ensure an efficient transport service that puts the needs of customers first whenever practicable, even if this inconveniences the organisation on occasion.
5. Organising and maintaining the efficiency of the entire transport service.
6. Arranging routine maintenance and inspections of vehicles (every 10 to 11 weeks).
7. Driving vehicles to and from garages as required - D1 Driving qualification essential.
8. Arranging LOLER checks.
9. Communicating with vehicle drivers, ensuring that they are kept up to date with relevant training and/or qualifications.
10. Organising and scheduling transport staff shifts using paper and electronic systems.
11. Conducting risk assessments of transport systems.
12. Updating and maintaining accurate records for inspection.
13. With the Deputy General Manager, identifying training and development for transport staff.
14. Working out a strategy that factors in customer satisfaction, ease-of-use and maximising on efficiency savings.
15. Other tasks within the remit of the job may be required from time to time.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – Transport Co-ordinator
ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
1 SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
* Vehicle maintenance skills would be an advantage.
* MIDAS trained or willing to undertake.
* A deep understanding of logistics and scheduling, involving creating routes, planning schedules, coordinating with drivers, and estimating transit times.
* Understanding of transportation laws and regulations.
* Proficiency in transportation management software.
2 EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
* Full clean driving license including D1 Mini-bus driving qualification is essential.
3 EXPERIENCE
* Experience as a mechanic or in a similar or related post is highly desirable.
