We are seeking an experienced Road and Sea Freight Import/Export Specialist within the freight forwarding industry to join our team at a privately owned freight company based in Weston Super Mare. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in freight forwarding operations, with a strong understanding of road freight and sea freight operations, groupage, FCL, LCL, and customs brokerage processes for import and export.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and manage import and export operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies
* Arrange and track road freight and sea freight, groupage, FCL, and LCL shipments
* Oversee customs clearance and ensure proper documentation for both import and export processes
* Communicate with international clients and suppliers to facilitate the smooth transportation of goods
* Handle any issues related to import and export logistics, and provide timely solutions
* Stay updated on industry regulations and market trends to optimise import and export processes
Experience Required
* Proven experience in import and export operations, preferably in a freight forwarding environment
* In-depth knowledge of road freight and sea freight operations, groupage, FCL, LCL, and customs procedures
* Strong understanding of import and export regulations and documentation requirements
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with international partners
* Proficient in relevant software and systems for tracking and managing import and export shipments
* Certification in import and export customs regulations and procedures is a plus
* Knowledge of international trade

* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient import and export processes
* Communicate with international partners to track and manage shipments
* Stay informed about changes in import and export regulations and adjust processes accordingly
* Provide guidance and support to colleagues on customs and import/export documentation
* Analyse import and export data to identify opportunities for optimisation and cost savings
* Ensure customer satisfaction by providing timely and accurate information on import and export logistics
