This role
We are recruiting for an experienced Floor Layer to undertake the replacement of vinyl & carpets within our domestic properties, you will be required to provide high quality, ‘right first time’, cost effective building services to the business and its customers.
To be considered for this position it would be desirable if you have received elements of recognised training i.e. NVQ or equivalent. Or you should be able to demonstrate at least two years of relevant experience, in the following: estimating and measuring, removal of existing floor coverings, repairs/screeding to concrete floors, fitting plywood & over-boarding, fitting new vinyl to include: cap & cove and welding and forming to wet-rooms and shower, stairs and nosing’s, laying carpets in individual rooms and supported housing schemes.
It is preferable for you to have some basic carpentry skills, to be able to trim the bottom of doors, fit threshold strips, remove-trim & refit plinths to kitchen units. To be able to move appliances that include washing machines.
You should also have some form of hot works training for heat/welding guns, and experience of working within a social housing environment.
You will conduct work in accordance with current legislation, British Standards, Codes of Practice, safe systems of work and recognised industrial standards for such work, minimising damage to the fabric of the property.

You will need a full driving licence and will be provided with your own Metworks van for working hours.
