An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 6 at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We require one band 6 Sisters/Charge Nurses to join our team. Ward 6 is an innovative and forward-thinking, 19-bedded Acute Elderly Admissions Ward.
We are looking for experienced candidates who have a commitment to ensuring safe and high-quality care is delivered to our patients, as well as being a role model and supporting our junior workforce. On Ward 6, there is a strong focus on multidisciplinary team working to ensure safe and timely patient discharges or transfers to appropriate care settings.
You will be expected to work as part of a dynamic nursing team, delivering all aspects of care to patients and have excellent communication skills. As part of this role, you will be required to coordinate the ward and also support the Ward Manager. The successful candidates will gain a wide range of clinical and managerial experience. Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable but not essential. These posts will be rotational between day/night shift and cover seven days a week.

Main duties of the job
The main purpose of the role is to assist, plan and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the ward manager. You will also be responsible for the organizing and coordination of the nursing services in the absence of the ward manager, lead a team of nurses and be innovative. The successful post holder must be able to be a role model, compassionate and show inclusive leadership skills. This is to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Job responsibilities
1. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the ward manager.
2. To be responsible for the organizing and coordination of nursing services in the ward department in the absence of the ward manager.
3. To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
4. To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
5. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.

* 1st Level live NMC Registered Nurse
* PP126/127
* D32/33 or equivalent
* Qualification in Specialty
* Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18-month period).
Experience

* Previous experience at Band 5
* Experience of relevant specialty
