Falkirk Council is responding to changes in the landscape of throughcare social work. The Prisoner (Early Release) Scotland Bill 2024, the Presumption Against Short-Term Sentences, and the Bail and Release from Custody (Scotland) Bill 2023 have all influenced prisoner numbers and the level of intervention required from justice social work. The new Justice Throughcare Service will focus on delivering targeted interventions for individuals who have been sentenced to custody and have entered the justice system. You will be responsible for the supervision of statutory throughcare licences and throughcare court orders. You will work with sexual and violent offenders. You will manage a diverse caseload ranging from those subject to short-term supervision through to life licences. You will work closely alongside partners such as Scottish Prison Service, MAPPA, and Police Scotland. You will complete reports relevant to Throughcare including Throughcare Assessment for Release on Licence (TARL) reports and Home Background Reports. While primarily based within the office, you will also be required to travel to partner agencies, including prisons as part of this role., This role offers hybrid working, allowing employees to work both from home and in Council locations, to support business needs. You will be experienced in justice social work. Knowledge of justice social work is essential. Experience of throughcare and experience with managing high-risk, complex cases is essential. You will have a Social Work degree with knowledge of Justice Services. The ability to prioritise your workload and work within a fast-paced and dynamic team is essential for this post. Experience of risk assessments and risk management is essential. You will be expected to record and monitor work using electronic case recording systems.
