A unique opportunity to develop a marketing career in local government and be part of the team championing the pretty market town of Nantwich. The new marketing apprentice at Nantwich Town Council would be at the heart of what’s going on in the community and have a chance to shape the future strategy for promoting the work of the organisation.
Hours Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Some evening or weekend work may be required but will be discussed in advance and TOIL is then agreed.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
The Multi-Channel Marketer apprenticeship role will include:
1. Creating regular social media content around what’s going on such as entertainment and opportunities to hire function rooms at the Civic Hall, market activity, and public consultations.
2. Devising marketing campaigns/strategies and evaluating their success.
3. Producing media - leaflets/adverts/posters.
4. Design work for items such as street banners.
5. Involvement in organising annual events such as the Christmas Light Switch On and Remembrance Sunday.
6. Creating and producing a quarterly Town Council newsletter – in print and e-shot.
7. Updating and improving website/app.
8. Writing and distributing press releases.
9. Supporting with the organisation of public consultation communication and associated information events.
10. Sending out surveys to the community and evaluating data produced.
11. Front desk duties and greeting members of the community who visit the Town Council for advice or information.
12. Developing and managing key relationships and communication with local stakeholders such as community/voluntary groups and charities.

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Multi-channel marketer (level 3) - Equal to A level
Your training plan
The candidate will follow a Level 3 apprenticeship programme and study towards a full standard as a Multi-channel Marketer. This training will be structured and delivered by Cheshire College – South & West. If you do not already hold GCSEs at grade A-C / 8-4 in English and Maths you will complete Functional Skills in the related subjects to attain Level 2 Functional Skills.
Requirements
GCSE in relevant subjects. Let the company know about other relevant qualifications and industry experience you have. They can adjust the apprenticeship to reflect what you already know.

About this company
Nantwich Town Council is a representative body and local voice for the community it serves. Established in 1974, it is represented by fifteen Councillors, who were last elected in 2023. A main function of the Town Council is the management of the Civic Hall, which stages a variety of live music and other entertainment, as well as being a central hub and information point for the town. Other key functions include running the Nantwich Market along with associated, weekly outdoor markets and the four community allotment sites. In addition, there are also key, annual, important events in for the town that the Council supports, such as the Christmas Lights Switch On and Remembrance Sunday, which the marketing apprentice will be responsible for elements of their organisation, delivery, and promotion.
