TeacherActive is proud to be working with an Specialist Independent school for students with autism, with their search for a SEND Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for you to work with a warm and positive Primary education site, who are focused on the development of the young adults within the site, with a specific approach to children with Autism and ADHD traits. The school has 13 students, with Autism, ADHD, and Non-Verbal communication, providing support for the students with their future early development using a child focused curriculum. The independent school encourages the students aged 5-11 years old to develop both socially and emotionally at their own pace. The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant will undertake the schools vision to cultivate a learning environment that embodies their values of collaboration, trust and ambition. You will show a strong commitment and a pro-active attitude towards the students education development and progression as they undergo their broad and balanced education.
These educators are helping the students develop their speech and knowledge through their own curriculum, with the students at the focus of their lesson. They promote education through play, and are searching for the right SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team of strong and passionate educators focused on helping the students with their supported learning through personalised teaching and differentiated lessons based on each students needs. The SEND Teaching Assistant must have a strong knowledge or experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, specifically Autism / ASD, and students that are Non-Verbal. This SEND Teaching Assistant role starts as soon as possible and is a Long-Term position with an opportunity to go permanent. We help SEND Teaching Assistant find their next role in a supportive school environment to help them progress in their teaching journey.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
1. Experience with SEND students as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant looking for development in their career
2. Excellent 1:1 management
3. ASD, ADHD and Non-Verbal experience
4. Knowledge of PECS
5. Child DBS on the Update Service - We can help with this application
