What Are We Looking for?
We're seeking a skilled Installation Technician to join our team, reporting directly to the Head of System Delivery. This role is crucial in designing and installing simulator systems for our clients worldwide. As a key customer-facing position, you'll need a strong commitment to service quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert who can provide hands-on support both at Micro Nav and customer sites, with expertise covering all software and hardware configurations of physical systems, as well as demonstrating high competency with our company software.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert technical support to Project Management at Micro Nav and customer sites
Develop system designs, including Bills of Materials, Scope of Supply, and licensing requirements
Create detailed system schematics and determine subcontractor requirements
Prepare and maintain accurate installation documentation for delivered customer systems
Procure hardware to meet project requirements and ensure timely delivery
Develop installation schedules to complete activities within agreed timeframes and budgets
Set up and configure hardware, resolving any identified issues
Address customer software and data requirements with technical expertise
Package and prepare hardware for shipping, producing appropriate export documentation
Conduct installation work at customer or supplier sites, either independently or as part of a team
Support the Bid team in preparation, design, costing, and scheduling for potential projects
Assist the Customer Services team with repairs, replacements, and troubleshooting
Ensure accurate site configuration documentation following any work at customer locations
Provide high-quality handover to customer support at project completion
Represent the company professionally at customer and supplier sites worldwide
Who Are You?
A technically proficient professional with hands-on experience in ICT installations
Customer-focused individual with excellent communication skills
Detail-oriented problem-solver who can work both independently and as part of a team
Adaptable professional comfortable with international travel and on-site work
Organised individual capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Technical Requirements & Experience: Good standard of education within IT and proven experience in an IT-based environment
Experience installing and configuring computer hardware, networks, and domain accounts
Proficiency with Windows operating systems (desktop and server) and virtualisation products
Strong understanding of server and networking infrastructure configuration
Experience with bespoke installations, LAN, power, and heat specifications
Knowledge of cable dressing, management, termination, and limitations
Basic civil engineering skills
Experience in customer-facing roles and working with cross-functional teams
Experience and understanding of ICT issues - operating systems, middleware, software, data management
Ability to work to ISO 9001 standards
Good written, verbal, and presentation skills
Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites within the UK and overseas
