Overview:
London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Safeguarding Service Manager to manage and deliver an integrated, strengths-based, and outcome focussed service within Children and Young People, providing support across the respective area, and holistic support across People services and in the Harrow community in accordance with statutory responsibilities and regulations.
Working across organisational and management boundaries, you will contribute to achieve improved outcomes for children, young people, and their families as well as taking responsibility for budget management within the respective area, ensuring the provision of a high quality, cost effective and efficient social care service to residents and families, within available resources.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of court work, CP, CIN and CIC and be experienced in supervising and quality assuring a team of dedicated Social Workers, which they can use to co-produce strategic and operational plans for the Services to deliver improved outcomes for children, young people, and families, including the development and implementation of key performance indicators and quality assurance standards.
We are looking for someone who can confidently ensure that the delivery of the service is effective and safe, within agreed strategic, operational and financial priorities, and that it is in accordance with statutory responsibilities, policies and procedures.
This role will require the ability to work flexibly including occasional evenings/Saturdays and to travel for business purposes.
About you:
The successful candidate will have:
1. Knowledge of how to deliver complex services for vulnerable children and young people, and integrated/partnership working within current legislation relating to children and young people.
2. Knowledge and a significant understanding of appropriate legislative frameworks and government policy in relation to Children and Young People’s services.
3. Knowledge of leadership, management, and other staff development techniques and skills.
4. Thorough knowledge of safeguarding processes and procedures.
5. Knowledge of suitable Budget Management techniques.
6. Considerable management experience of complex child protection work, including care proceedings.
7. Demonstrable experience of extensive partnership work, particularly multi-disciplinary and multi-agency work within a statutory framework.
8. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
9. Resourceful and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
10. Ability to manage budgets effectively.
11. Social Work qualification (e.g. CSS, CQSW, DipSW or Degree in Social Work).
12. Current Social Work England registration.
13. Evidence of wide-ranging continued professional development.
