We provide experience, knowledge, information, training, help and advice relating to badgers, to members of the public and other organisations throughout the county. Our volunteers carry out survey and rescues and we work to raise awareness of the local and national issues that badgers face. Set up near 40 years ago, we operate throughout Lancashire and the northern boroughs of Greater Manchester. We have 7 trustees, over 250 members and a group of around 100 active volunteers.
The role
As Treasurer, the role is voluntary and you will be a trustee of our CIO. You’ll oversee our charity’s finances, prepare an annual budget and deliver financial reports to the committee of trustees.
Our current treasurer is moving on to other volunteering in the group, after more years than he cares to admit! He dedicates an hour to two hours a week to the role.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Hands-on management of all our financial transactions
2. Advising the committee on financial strategy and planning
3. Supporting the membership officer by providing weekly updates on new/renewing members
4. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for the statutory accounts
5. Regular attendance at monthly committee meetings in person or online, delivering financial reports
6. Preparing and delivering the annual financial statement to members at the AGM and submitting it to the Charity Commission
We’d love someone with:
1. Experience and knowledge of accounting and financial management
2. Good organisational skills and attention to detail
3. Good at teamwork
4. Passion for making a difference to the environment and wildlife and supporting our cause
What you’ll gain:
1. The chance to make a direct impact for our organisation
2. An opportunity to shape and support our charity’s future
3. The satisfaction of contributing to a great cause alongside a friendly can-do team of trustees and a great bunch of volunteers
Lancashire Badger Group currently has 7 trustees who are also committee members. We are all volunteers. The committee meets first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in Samlesbury, near Junction 31 of the M6.
