Liaising directly with customers they will evaluate enquiries and provide the most suitable technical and commercial solution, which will result in the growth of the business and achieving its strategic objectives. Responsibilities Convert customer technical requirements and transpose them to valve solutions fit for purpose. This may involve supporting the customer directly or via the Business Development Manager/Key Account Manager. Assess enquiries that are received into the Sales Engineering inbox and categorise response time by product group based on technical complexity and current workload within the team. Prepare quotations for customer requirements including negotiation, costing and margin analysis. Liaise directly with customers to evaluate enquiries and provide the most suitable technical and commercial solution displaying excellent communication skills. Follow up high value quotations and convert into orders, maintaining details on relevant Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Respond to requests from internal and external customers to provide accurate product costs to enable a sales price to be calculated and maintain profit margins. Provide technical support and pricing guidance to the Customer Service team. Visit, liaise and support customers and external sales personnel to ensure that customer expectations are understood and requirements are met in full. This may include overseas travel. Use Excel based program to calculate product costs using a combination of estimates and verified manufacturing costs. Assist Product Marketing in highlighting/identifying potential new product opportunities. Develop and work with a wide-ranging external network to enhance professional and technical knowledge. Keep up-to-date with any changes in legislation/standards/directives that may affect the company's products/solutions. Learn in-depth, new product features and benefits and support customers as necessary. Perform other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required. Requirements Good general education with HNC in Mechanical/Electro Mechanical or equivalent qualification or experience. Experience with estimating. Excellent organisational skills. Demonstrable experience and understanding of sales techniques and commercial awareness with a strong customer focus. High level of attention to detail. Able to demonstrate a positive attitude and work calmly under pressure. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Flexible with the ability to work to deadlines and the determination to see a job through to a satisfactory conclusion. Proactive nature with converting business to sale with customer centricity. Desirable Experience in valve related products. Experience using a CRM. Extensive knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes. Excellent ability to review and disseminate technical drawings, specifications and general documentation. Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques and machining methods.
