We are looking to recruit and enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant to take a key role in developing and transforming our new managing risk pathway (combined Crisis & Assertive Outreach). We are looking for someone who is passionate about crisis work and ensuring safe and effective interventions are delivered to a high risk population. The Getting Risk support pathway supports children, young people and their family carers with acute, enduring complex mental health needs. The post holder will join the newly developed CAMHS Getting Risk Support pathway, and support in their clinical role, the crisis service, children and young people, their family/carers and professionals to timely access and support when they need it the most, and ensuring local systems are responsive to meeting their needs in a holistic and joined up way. Main duties of the job This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Child Psychiatrist to join a vibrant multidisciplinary crisis team, develop your special interest and psychiatry practice while having the best of what Devon offers. We welcome candidates wishing to work less than full time. This post will be base can be negotiated to the candidates preference, while working with many consultants across a number of pathways. The post will cover provision of community assessment, treatment and psychiatric care for Children and Young people presenting in mental health crisis. Therell be opportunities for liaison work with the district hospitals within Devon and the regional Tier 4 unit. The service operates between 9am to 10pm, 7 days a week, providing CAMHS assessments for crisis presentations in A&E and paediatric wards (The consultant is expected to work 9-5pm). The service is delivered for young people who: are at risk of immediate and significant self-harm; are an immediate and significant risk to others due to their mental health; are being considered for admission to a mental health inpatient unit; and or are in acute psychological or emotional distress that is impacting their functioning. The crisis team will work with young people for the duration of their crisis episode, liaising with the community care coordinator for existing patients to ensure a coordinated approach to care and careful transition.
