If you want to be at the cutting edge of renewable energy, work towards enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future, and help change the way energy is generated, supplied, and used, then this role is for you What You Will be Doing Day to day you’ll lead the delivery of fundamental market analysis, assumptions, forecasts, and a variety of analytical activities focused on power markets, utilising fundamental modelling tools and techniques. Your valuable work will support the activities of the Trading & Optimisation team within liquid traded markets, supporting daily trading strategy decisions from within-day out to up to 5 years. So that’s plenty of fundamental modelling development, energy industry trend analysis, and policy and regulation impact scrutiny. And as the senior in the team, you’ll manage a team of Trading Analysts, working collaboratively with them to support their development. About You - Practical experience in an analytical/market facing role within the energy industry - Possess a good honours degree in a numerate discipline or equivalent - Ability to understand and interpret data sets/statistical analytics, develop accurate models from first principles and sense-check outputs - Able to see the overall picture and understand how analysis fits in to the trading strategy across active traded horizon from within-day, prompt and forward markets. - Strong understanding of modelling and IT technologies and techniques, leading the development of VBA, Python, SQL or similar, knowledge of linear optimisation modelling (e.g. BID3) or statistical analysis models -Leading, developing and supporting team members within Trading Analysis About Drax Drax Group is a renewable energy company engaged in renewable power generation, the production of sustainable biomass and the sale of renewable electricity to businesses, and we operate a generation portfolio of sustainable biomass, OCGTs, hydro-electric and pumped hydro storage assets across seven sites in England and Scotland.
