Key Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care & Support
* Assist residents with personal hygiene, including washing, dressing, and toileting.
* Support individuals with mobility, using hoists and other equipment as required.
* Assist with meals and hydration, ensuring dietary needs are met.
* Monitor and support medication administration in line with care plans.
2. Dementia Care & Communication
* Provide person-centered care tailored to each resident’s individual needs and preferences.
* Communicate effectively in both Welsh and English, ensuring residents feel understood and comfortable.
* Recognize and respond to changes in mood, behavior, and cognitive abilities with patience and empathy.
* Use dementia-friendly approaches, such as reminiscence therapy and sensory stimulation activities.
3. Emotional & Social Well-being
* Encourage and support engagement in activities that promote mental and physical well-being.
* Build trusting relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
* Provide companionship and emotional reassurance, particularly during moments of distress or confusion.
4. Record-Keeping & Compliance
* Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily notes and incident reports.
* Work in accordance with Social Care Wales guidelines and care home policies.
* Adhere to safeguarding procedures, confidentiality protocols, and health & safety regulations.
5. Teamwork & Professional Development
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and colleagues to provide holistic care.
* Attend regular training and professional development to enhance skills in dementia care.
* Contribute to staff meetings and continuous service improvements.
Essential Criteria:
-Social Care Wales Registration (or willingness to register upon employment).
-Fluent in both Welsh and English (spoken and written).
-Previous experience working with older adults or individuals with dementia.
-Knowledge of dementia care best practices and person-centered care principles.
-Ability to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
