Position: Programme Manager Location: Cambridge, UK Competitive Salary & Excellent Company Benefits Introduction to role An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cambridge Operations for a Programme Manager to support the successful delivery of key outcomes for science. This role requires collaboration with teams across both the science and operational support environments. Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will be responsible for handling and coordinating a programme of capital investments across our Southern Sites, focusing on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This includes scientific, workplace, and amenity capabilities. Responsibility for day-to-day management & co-ordination for a programme of capital investments across our “Southern Sites” – focused on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus; including scientific, workplace and amenity capabilities. Taking a lead role in driving the programme through relevant design, construction, commissioning, handover and operational stand-up activities of the programme. Take ownership for day-to-day management, co-ordination of business continuity & business impact assessments related to the programme and communicating with business leads to manage expectations and constraints. Manage the development of detailed planning and readiness activities in building handover, IT service provision, and preparedness for future steady state operations. Working alongside and co-ordinating with teams involved in occupation, change management & operational service delivery. Accountabilities Accountable for the delivery of projects/programmes on time and on budget. Agree project/programme plans including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities, and quality assurance. Handle day-to-day operational aspects of a project/programme and scope to ensure timely completion. Handle relationships with key business collaborators to ensure business requirements are optimally collected and committed to project objectives. Ensure that impact and changes resulting from projects/programmes are effectively communicated to the business. Build and lead project teams, communicating roles and responsibilities while encouraging teamwork and collaboration. Effectively apply AZ methodology and carry out project standards. Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. Build project/programme improvement plans and ensure that project teams provide input. Resolve quality and compliance risks and issues, escalating to Programme Director/Head of Estates when appropriate. Handle Steering Group expectations. A willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays is required. Essential Skills/Experience Demonstrable management of end-to-end Project whole life cycle Excellent hands-on operational experience of sophisticated scientific facilities or highly serviced facilities. Experience leading building focused programmes. Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills Experience of working with third party suppliers and construction partners Experience of working application of policies, procedures, and guidelines Experience in negotiation and contributions to drafting of real estate leases. Experience in management of budgets totalling >£5m. Experience of leading team of >5 employees within a scientific/project environment Desirable Skills/Experience Experience working within scientific subject areas. Appropriate technical & legislative knowledge Experience of working in a global scientific organisation with complex/geographical context Experience of handling ambiguity whilst navigating through it Well-developed external network across scientific and/or project management Experience working within a RIBA staged construction environment.
