We are partnering exclusively with a world leader in the medical devices space as they go to market with several procurement vacancies to kick off their global procurement transformation. One of their priority hires will take a lead role in the External Manufacturing division – managing all finished products procurement for a key portfolio.

The role
1. This position will work with an existing team of 3 procurement professionals and a wider global procurement function of c.40
2. The role is responsible for managing all procurement strategy for finished products – specifically within the ostomy and stoma care category
3. Managing 15+ CMO vendors, the successful candidate will be responsible for initiating and maintaining strategic relationships with global suppliers – working with them to collaborate on complex manufacturing projects (<£50M)
4. With a primary focus on revenue generation, the external manufacturing procurement function will collaborate with CMOs to instil best in class ways of working and ensure quality and delivery through detailed SLAs
5. The group wide transformation will focus heavily on improving supply chain resilience, therefore a large focus for this role will be implementing dual sourcing contracts where possible
6. The global category manager role will work across all key functions and interact daily with Marketing, Commercial, S&OP and R&D
Skills and Experience Required
7. Prior experience in external manufacturing procurement is a must – this is a complex global role and the team need an expert in this space
8. Prior experience in a regulated industry is also a must – Pharma/Medical Devices would be ideal – however also open to backgrounds in Aerospace, Defence, Automotive and FMCG
9. Procurement experience running complex sourcing projects with CMOs is a must have – ideally with experience in open book costing
10. A track record of improving supplier performance through collaboration, quality checks and SLA management
11. The procurement function is highly collaborative, however applicants must he self-starters, naturally inquisitive and proactive
12. Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience managing a variety of internal and external stakeholders across commercial, R&D, supply chain and manufacturing
