Technical Manager (Instrumentation & Monitoring) - based Over, Cambs
This is a newly created position to join MISTRAS Group Ltd as a Technical Manager (Instrumentation and Monitoring).
The Technical Manager will serve as a subject matter expert in the field of structural health monitoring hardware, providing best practices in system design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
The role is responsible for managing the detailed design of SHM monitoring systems and developing processes and procedures related to monitoring solutions.
Ownership, management, and development of all technical matters concerning sensors and hardware for various monitoring technologies will be key responsibilities.
The role will involve guiding work execution in line with MISTRAS procedures and integrating related programs and documentation to meet customer requirements and relevant standards.
The Technical Manager will lead in developing processes, procedures, training requirements, and hardware provisions.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Being the subject matter expert for UK Business on monitoring instrumentation and hardware supporting all business elements.
2. Leading the ongoing development and implementation of monitoring services within the technical operations team.
3. Developing, implementing, and maintaining condition monitoring procedures and documentation, ensuring best practices and compliance with standards.
4. Evaluating the latest monitoring systems and technologies, leading assessments and development of hardware/software when necessary.
5. Developing documentation and procedures for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests.
6. Supporting staff training, competency assessment, and mentoring to ensure best practices in installation, commissioning, and data analysis.
7. Maintaining group certifications and supporting the development of integrated processes in collaboration with Operations and QHSE teams.
8. Supporting project bid teams with technical reviews and scope definitions.
9. Contributing to project work packs and supporting client approvals.
10. Ensuring safe and consistent monitoring operations on-site, with potential travel up to one month.
11. Providing technical support during projects, interpreting data, evaluating inspection results, and preparing reports.
12. Analyzing past project data to identify lessons learned and developing predictive insights for future projects.
13. Adhering to QHSE policies and maintaining quality documentation.
Applicants should be experienced civil engineers with a BEng or higher qualification, or possess equivalent experience, with demonstrable expertise in NDT / SHM inspection and installation, and good knowledge of monitoring system installation and NDT.
