An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Guardian’s communications team as a communications manager. We are looking for an in-house communications professional to work in a fast-paced environment for one of the world's leading news organisations.
You will collaborate on some of our most important and high-profile issues, supporting our senior editorial and commercial leadership teams, including our chief executive. Reporting to the director of employee and corporate communications, you will work closely with the wider global communications team, including colleagues in the US and Australia.
About the role
You will coordinate and draft high quality communications to drive employee understanding of the Guardian’s business, journalism and strategy, including supporting senior leaders with their communication needs. You will manage creative campaigns, events and get involved with a variety of communication projects, from sustainability reporting to product launches.
* Coordinating and drafting a variety of communications and content in collaboration with senior colleagues, including:
o Helping to plan and deliver clear, engaging staff communications on the Guardian’s strategy and purpose, including regular staff updates and other events.
o Working in close collaboration with senior leaders to ensure initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
o Delivering creative internal campaigns and working on corporate videos, podcasts and other multimedia content to support storytelling.
o Playing a key role in communicating sustainability achievements and our diversity and inclusion strategy.
o Organising staff engagement activities, including a wide range of events, both in-person and virtual.
* Owning, maintaining and improving internal communications channels.
* Tracking and measuring the effectiveness of communication activities.
* You will also be part of the on-call media rota with other members of the communications team, coordinating and drafting responses to external and internal inquiries for approval.
About you
* You will have excellent written, verbal and editing skills, and experience in writing and creating a wide variety of high quality communication materials in a news, media or editorial environment.
* In depth understanding and experience of working with senior stakeholders on multiple communications and/or writing projects to tight deadlines.
* Strong track record of working on creative, multimedia campaigns including videos, podcasts, social media and website updates.
* Passionate about Guardian journalism
