Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is a trillion dollar investment management firm entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realize their long-term objectives.
This regulatory change specialist will support Senior Management in the day-to-day efforts related to the 1LoD regulatory compliance with regulatory rules and policies, liaising as and when required with Control, Compliance, Risk, and Audit teams.
The position requires knowledge of the financial services industry regulation and requires a candidate well versed in the interpretation of regulatory text and formulating regulatory policies and procedures, with project and change management experience.
The role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to implement regulations whilst also ensuring adherence to the Corporate regulatory change framework.
Key responsibilities include:
* Facilitation and oversight of the regulatory change implementation across the NTAM EMEA business with a focus on operational readiness and traceability to minimize regulatory risk and enable effective handover to the BAU teams.
* Manage regulatory change implementation through project management techniques.
* Coordinate with BAU/functional teams (Investments, Product, Operations etc.) within the 1LoD on regulatory considerations and developments, maintaining ownership of relationships with Compliance, Risk, and Legal during the regulatory change process.
* Proactive oversight and maintenance of the NTAM regulatory change model, monitoring adherence to the corporate regulatory change framework.
* Communicate with internal and external parties as needed and make recommendations on required changes by the business on complex regulatory oversight management matters.
* Represent NTAM EMEA and legal entities at relevant internal regulatory forums/councils/committees to discuss and review impacts of regulations on the business.
* Produce relevant metrics and reporting on the effectiveness of the regulatory environment in Asset Management, associated Boards, legal entities, etc.
* Anticipate project risks and escalate in a timely manner to drive decisions by project groups.
* Lead training and communications with partners to promote a robust risk and regulatory aware culture.
* Promote corporate values including integrity.
Knowledge / Skills:
* A College/University degree or relevant professional qualification.
* At least 5 years of work experience in the investment management industry, with a demonstrated track record within regulatory change in a mid-to-large investment management firm.
* Proficiency with investment products, change management methods, and report writing.
* Thorough understanding of the Investment Management industry and financial services.
* Ideally come from an Asset Management background, with demonstrable experience/understanding of regulatory change processes in Financial Services organizations.
* Project management techniques and process understanding.
* Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify problems and develop strategic solutions.
* Compelling communicator with the ability to adjust communication style to audience needs.
* Proven influencing and persuasion skills to successfully implement change.
* Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences.
* Strong situational awareness, communication skills, and decision-making capabilities.
* Strong consultative skills ranging from gathering market and competitor insights to strategy development and consensus building.
