The main purpose of the roles is to provide a customer-focused and efficient ground maintenance service, ensuring the parks remain safe, clean, and well-maintained during our busiest months.
Experience in customer care and grounds or horticultural maintenance would be beneficial. A positive attitude, the ability to speak with the public confidently, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential.
The role involves working outdoors and working shifts to support the closure of the Walled Garden at 6pm. Working during weekends and bank holidays will be required.
Specific duties of the post will include the following:
* litter picking
* emptying bins
* hoeing and weeding
* grass cutting
* hedge cutting
* cleaning hard surfaces and detritus
* watering plants
* securing gates and bollards
* supporting set-up of events
Personal commitments for this role include being friendly, approachable, and supportive to colleagues, demonstrating a willingness to learn new skills, and completing paperwork in a timely manner. Punctuality is essential, as well as taking responsibility for the maintenance of PPE, equipment, machinery, tools, and vehicles assigned to you.
You must adhere to safety protocols in line with risk assessments and follow our health and safety policies and procedures. Wearing the correct uniform, safety gear, and personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, along with taking precautions to protect your skin from the sun.
It is crucial to report any accidents, racial incidents, or dangerous occurrences promptly. You may also be required to assist in locating lost children and support our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults at risk, in accordance with our safeguarding policy.
This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with the opportunity to be part of a friendly and dedicated parks team.
We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.
