The East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMAS) provides Emergency, Urgent and Non-Emergency pre-hospital care and transport across six counties (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire & Rutland and Northamptonshire).
Job overview
EMAS is looking for a proactive analytical individual to support the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service in undertaking analysis and performance reporting to support service improvement. Key skills include SQL, Power BI, Statistical Analysis and being able to present information in an easy to understand format – making recommendations as appropriate. The post will be part of a growing analytical, information and performance management with opportunities to work across the range of service areas the team support.
The post holder must be an expert in the collection, manipulation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of information, contributing to the provision of timely and quality management of information to support cost-effective and responsive NEPTS services across the Trust.
The post holder will also be responsible for NEPTS SharePoint reporting, SQL extraction and Power BI report creation.
This post is a fixed term position until the end of March 5.
Main duties of the job
1. To interrogate complex data sets to identify trends, exceptions, problems, good practice, and areas of concern for all levels of management, providing recommendations where appropriate;
2. To deliver data and statistical analysis to meet operational management and performance management needs of the NEPTS, as for other services provided by the Trust as required.
3. Ensure the timely collation, analysis and presentation of high-quality information.
4. To lead on the reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) and service standards and other information to support service improvement at corporate, area and individual level. Including making recommendations for new/changing measures as required.
5. To develop appropriate reporting solutions, undertake analysis and evaluation to support specific initiatives/projects implemented (including the creation and analysis of Power BI reports).
6. Extract, manage and analyse complex datasets using spreadsheets, databases, and other software tools.
7. To provide information and analytical support to the Trust in bidding for new NEPTS services.
8. Be able to extract data from SQL and have a sound understanding of the Cleric system.

3. Develop close working relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external to the Trust, to promote the importance and effective use of quality information.
4. Undertake routine and ad hoc reporting and analysis of A&E data as required.
5. Perform any duties as may be directed by the Information Manager/Head of Performance and Information appropriate to the post.
6. Actively support the Trust policy and best practice in the area of Information Governance, Information Security and regulatory compliance, with particular emphasis on the protection of sensitive customer/patient identifiable information. Relying on own knowledge or recognising the need for specialist support when necessary.
7. To receive, provide and disseminate high quality management information both internally and externally to the Trust by agreed timescales. This may include written and verbal presentations as determined by the Information Team Manager.

Main responsibilities:
Communication and Relationship Skills
1. To present, analyse and report information verbally and in writing, adjusting presentation styles to meet the requirements of different audiences. This will include both regular and ad-hoc reports. To assist the recipients of such reports to effect the required change where necessary.
2. Communication of statistical and analytical findings to non-statistical/analytical professionals; develop and deliver formal, complex statistical presentations to large groups.
3. Work closely with the Performance Management and Information Team and the NEPTS and colleagues to ensure stored information is of the highest possible quality.
Knowledge, Training and Experience
1. Using a high degree of accuracy and speed together with the application of knowledge, skills and experience, be responsible for specialised detailed and complex information.
2. The post holder will demonstrate an understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, some of which are non-routine, which requires a base level of theoretical knowledge.
3. Knowledge of how the Trust delivers its services for patients and awareness of the Trust’s strategic direction.
4. Preparation of reports and presentations, as required/requested.
5. Experience in the production of reports and analysis using statistical data.
Analytical and Judgement Skills
1. Provide or assist in the analysis of trends and identification of exceptions on a wide range of performance measures, make recommendations based on the data and to alert responsible managers when necessary.
2. To make judgements involving a range of facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation, or comparison of a range of options.
3. Contribute to the production of forecast and model activity with regards to calls, incidents, responses, and transports to assist and improve the NEPTS.
4. On an ongoing basis, the post holder will undertake proactive analysis and assessments on PTS, under the direction of the Information Team Manager/Heads of Service.
5. The post holder will analyse and interpret performance reports and data to establish areas of focus for service improvement.
6. The post holder will make judgements involving facts or situations, some of which require analysis.
7. The post holder will have responsibility for assisting in maintaining one or more information systems.
