Job Description
Purpose of the job:
* To develop an understanding of the specific needs of the pupil to be supported, as advised by the school’s Inclusion Co-Ordinator (INCo)
* To support the pupil in practical matters relating to their learning
* To support the pupil to learn effectively as possible both in group situations and individually, both inside and outside of the classroom
* To establish a supportive relationship with other pupils
* To carry out specific duties as outlined in the pupil’s Education Health Care Plan
* To familiarise self with the curriculum and learning activities that may support the pupil’s learning
* To maintain the system of recording and monitoring of the pupil’s progress
* To participate in the evaluation of any specific support programme or targeted intervention
* To report any problems about arrangements or any incidents to the Class Teacher and INCo
* To help adapt or find differentiated materials to enable the pupil’s access to the curriculum
* To participate in relevant professional development and training pertinent to the role
* To maintain confidentiality about all home-school and pupil/teacher matters
* To ensure the safety of the pupil and other pupils while in your care
* To attend to any personal & health needs of the pupil, where appropriate
* To appreciate and support the role of other professionals
* To promote acceptance and inclusion of the pupil within the school community
* To support the pupil’s social interactions and positive behaviour choices

General Duties
* Participate in relevant meetings with colleagues, parents and be involved in links with external agencies as part of curriculum enhancement, including extra-curricular activities and off-site visits
* Support other members of the curriculum area and students as appropriate
* Review your own professional development and maintain professional standards
* Carry out any other such duties as the post holder may reasonably be required to do
Person Specification
* A proven record of forming good working relationships with children and colleagues
* Committed individual with an interest in Steiner Waldorf education
* Self-motivated and imaginative
* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and parents
* Flexible and positive attitude to work
* Capacity to deliver the curriculum in an artistic and creative manner
* First Aid at Work Certificate
