Previous applicants need not apply. We are looking for a self-motivated and flexible individual to join our busy dispensary team. You will be a qualified dispenser with a relevant NVQ Level 2.
Main duties will include:
1. Processing and dispensing of prescriptions.
2. Providing an efficient and friendly service for our dispensing patients.
3. Contributing to an effective re-ordering service for repeat medications.
4. Placing orders with suppliers, receiving stock deliveries and ensuring appropriate storage is maintained.
5. Working in line with SOPs and protocols and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Key Skills Required:
1. The ability to remain calm under pressure.
2. A flexible approach and commitment to accommodate the needs of the service.
3. Experience using SystmOne, with at least one year of recent experience in a relevant patient/healthcare focused environment (e.g., community pharmacy or GP Dispensary).
4. A strong attention to detail.
Hours: Approximately 27.5 hours over 3 days (Mon, Tues, Wed preferred but some flexibility). It is essential that the post holder will have flexibility to support the Dispensary team to cover all planned holiday, along with sickness cover which can sometimes be at short notice.
Main duties of the job:
1. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills.
2. You will also have the ability to work effectively both independently and with the existing team.
You must have:
* A nationally recognised NVQ Level 2 in Dispensary Services.
* A professional attitude.
Core Responsibilities:
1. To be responsible for checking all medicines dispensed, ensuring there are no discrepancies, as per prescription.
2. Dispensing medicines to the entitled population safely and accurately.
3. Collecting prescription charges and patient signatures.
4. Maintaining stock levels within the dispensary to agreed levels.
5. Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy, including stock rotation, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable.
6. Conducting stocktakes and agreeing with management and the team on the frequency.
7. Working closely with senior partner and clinicians to maximise profitability.
8. Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed and disposed of, in accordance with practice policy.
9. Safe disposal of returned and/or out of date medicines.
10. Ensuring all repeat prescriptions are processed within a 72-hour timeframe.
11. Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters.
12. Processing prescription requests via email, phone, face-to-face and online.
13. Daily recording of fridge temperatures.
14. Preparation of monthly returns.
15. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
16. Maintaining accurate records at all times.
17. Collection and accurate processing of all monies received.
18. Sharing the provision of cover during absences within the team fairly, following internal processes.
19. Fully observing legal requirements relevant to the dispensing practice and HA regulations and controlled drugs.
20. Ensuring that all drug safety alerts and notices are acted upon in a timely manner.
21. Going through prescriptions monthly “not picked up” and “unlikely to be picked up” to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the prescription.
