About the role
Ashgate Hospice, based in North Derbyshire, offers free palliative and end of life care for adults with life-limiting or incurable illnesses, including cancer, neurological diseases, and advanced heart, kidney, and lung conditions. Last year, we cared for over 2,400 people. Our aim is to support our patients by keeping them informed, managing their symptoms, and improving their quality of life from diagnosis onwards. We also provide vital support to the people who are important to them, offering practical assistance and emotional support, including bereavement services.
Become an Ashgate Trustee
We’re looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help shape our future. You’ll work closely with our Chair, fellow trustees and the Leadership team to ensure we continue delivering outstanding care and achieving our strategic ambitions. We’re particularly keen to hear from people with skills and experience in clinical, estates and/or commercial business, to strengthen the breadth of expertise on our Board.
An opportunity to grow: Become an Associate Trustee
If you’re interested in becoming a Trustee but don’t yet have governance experience, you may be a great fit for our Associate Trustee role. Associate Trustees play an active role in Board discussions but don’t carry the legal responsibilities of a full Trustee or have voting rights. Over 12 months, you’ll receive mentoring and support to develop your skills, with the aim of becoming a full Trustee in the future
What you’ll do
* ·Help set the strategic direction of the hospice.
* Ensure Ashgate’s assets are safeguarded and used effectively.
* Provide scrutiny, oversight, and support to the Leadership team.
* Attend quarterly Board meetings and spend time at the hospice to understand our work.
What we’re looking for
* Knowledge, skills and experience in clinical, medical, estates and/or commercial business.
* A visible passion for and commitment to Ashgate, its purpose and ambitions.
* Willingness and ability to fulfil the time commitment of one day per month.
