Neighbourhood Operative
£12.65 per hour
We are seeking a Neighbourhood Operative to help deliver Street Cleansing duties across our Foreshores and Town centre areas within the Coastal area.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out duties such as - Litter picking, Bin Emptying, Weed removal, fly tip Removal, manual sweeping, sand removal. The candidate will be expected to operate a Street orderly barrow within shopping areas and foreshore locations.
This role requires the operative to work 5 days over 7 inclusive of weekends and bank holidays.
Key duties and responsibilities:
* Manual sweeping, including removal of dog fouling, weed removal.
* Pedestrian sweeping - street orderly barrow.
* Empty litter bins, including dog-waste bins.
* Litter picking (manually or mechanically) including needles.
* Removal of graffiti (from street furniture), gum and fly posting.
* Toilet cleaning, opening and closing duties.
* Leaflet delivery
* Manual beach cleaning.
* Snow clearing and salting of pathway
* Removal of road kill.
* Assist with emergency response.
* Implementation of landscaping/bedding schemes
* Removal of fly tipping/bulky waste
Collection of sharps/hypodermics in accordance with our policy and health and health and safety procedures, reporting findings to Neighbourhood Environmental Worker (Team Leader).
Reporting of highway defects/fly tipping/fly posting on appropriate forms
Use of hand arm vibration tools (i.e. strimming/hedge cutters etc.)
To liaise, as required with other relevant staff and members of the council, other public bodies and the general community.
To be a team member who will report back to their line manager any area of work outside of their responsibility that will reduce hazards/improve the environment e.g. Pot holes on or adjacent to pathways.
To be available to assist in Emergency Planning / Disaster Recovery situations.
