The Opportunity: Due to continued expansion, we are looking to strengthen our management team and recruit a Head of Operations. This role is primarily based at our Head Office in Rothley and will involve UK travel. The Head of Operations will be tasked with implementing plans to deliver business wide improvements across logistics, stock control and purchasing to enhance service levels and drive efficiencies within the organisation. This opportunity is made for a commercially minded Operations Manager who can build relationships, switch easily between strategic and operational matters and develop a high-performing team, focused on delivering exceptional customer service, greater operational efficiency and improved profitability. Key Responsibilities and Deliverables: Lead, coach and motivate team, promoting high performance and engagement. Support operations, logistics and purchasing teams, ensuring strong collaboration between sales and operational activities. Take ownership for effective stock management, striking the right balance between product availability and stock turn, in line with the wider procurement strategy. Expand the logistics capabilities across the business, adopting a new ‘hub and spoke’ distribution model. Working with our purchasing teams to negotiate mutually agreeable terms with suppliers and move activity towards fewer, larger orders. Alongside BPX’s management team, develop standard operating procedures to improve quality, maintain consistency and reduce errors. Take an active role in supporting key business projects including RDC and branch expansion, site upgrades and in-house system development. Oversee all delivery vans across the branch and RDC network, ensuring we continue to run a safe and suitable fleet of vehicles on the road. Utilise vehicle management systems to optimise route planning and where possible deliver logistics efficiencies and cost savings. Adhere to all Quality and H&S standards and identify areas for continuous improvement. Knowledge, Skills and Experienced required: A people leader who can recruit, retain and continually develop BPX colleagues Customer centric, able to identify challenges and present solutions to support business growth Operations and logistics background with multi-site experience improving aged stock, stock turn, OTIF Commercially astute with awareness of key topics such as price positioning and margin mix Sound understanding of the dynamic between manufacturer, distributor and customer Able to guide and support purchasing function and oversee larger stock investments, in addition to the routine product fulfilment.
