Health Care Support Worker - Northbrook Children's Ward
Band 3 - Part Time
Are you looking for a new opportunity within the care of children? We are looking for an individual who wants to work with children in an acute healthcare setting; developing clinical skills and providing high-quality care to children and families. An opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated and supportive team working on Northbrook Ward.
Main Duties of the Job
* Supporting the assessment and delivery of care to children and young people with a range of care needs within a 24/7 service
* Providing effective evidence-based care for patients under the supervision of qualified practitioners
* Working closely with the Multidisciplinary Team
* Developing enhanced clinical skills such as paediatric venepuncture and cannulation
* Ensuring that you act within your sphere of competence at all times and be confident and accountable for your actions
* Evidence of excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment are essential for the role

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
* NVQ2 Child Care/NNEB/City & Guilds
* Literacy level 1 or equivalent (GCSE D-G)
* Numeracy level 1 or equivalent (GCSE D-G)
* ESOL level 1 or equivalent (if English not first language)
* Literacy level 2 or equivalent (GCSE A-C)
* IT Literate
* Numeracy level 2 or equivalent (GCSE A-C)
* ESOL level 2 or equivalent (if English not first language)
Experience & Knowledge
* Able to deal with confidential issues
* Basic understanding of normal child development
* Previous experience in a Health/Health Social Care role
* Knowledge of health and safety
* Previous NHS experience
* Understanding NHS/Social care systems
Skills & Ability
* To be able to demonstrate the required behaviour in keeping with the Trust Values
* Good written and verbal communication in the English language
* Able to work without direct supervision
* Able to work within a team
* Effective patient/parent care skills
* Desire to increase knowledge/skills e.g. IT skills
Other Specific Requirements
* Must be 18 years or over
* Willingness to undertake further training
* Be able to demonstrate patience, dependability, and motivation
* Should be able to work flexible hours on occasion
