Our purpose-built Oncology Centre is situated in QA Hospital. Combined Haematology/ Oncology ward (CHOC) is a 46-bed unit on 3 wards. Haem /Onc Day Unit (HODU) is staffed by experienced chemotherapy nurses and treat approximately 80 - 90 patients per day. Our Acute Oncology Service (AOS) has six dedicated assessment and treatment beds for patients presenting with complications from cancer treatment and the management of acute/emergency cancer symptoms. Main duties of the job This is a full-time Locally Employed Doctor (Registrar) post in Medical Oncology. The appointee will work together with 13 other Oncology Doctors rotating through attachments of 6 months covering a range of tumour types. The post holder will be required to demonstrate that they have experience in oncological management, and preferably will have MRCP or equivalent. The post may be attractive to a candidate who has completed Foundation and Core Medical competencies (IMT) and wishes to gain further experience in Medical Oncology before pursing ST3 training. Although a non-training post, the successful candidate will be assigned a consultant educational supervisor and will be encouraged to maintain a portfolio. There are regular education, clinical governance and departmental meetings, as well as Regional Oncology study days. The department is committed to research with participation in clinical trials in all major tumour sites.
