An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, innovative and motivated Children’s Registered Nurse to join Staffordshire Children’s Hospital at the Royal Stoke Hospital as a band 6 Children’s Epilepsy Nurse.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with experience in caring for children with epilepsy. You will be fully supported to develop existing and new skills working within a framework of competence, and you will be supported by a Children’s Epilepsy Nurse Specialist.
We are looking for a caring individual with the knowledge base and skills required for caring for children with epilepsy and their families. The candidate will need to demonstrate leadership and communication skills, be innovative and flexible, and be committed to evidence-based care.

Main duties of the job
The Children’s Epilepsy Nurse will work as part of an expanding team alongside clinicians with a specialist interest in Epilepsy. The post holder will provide specialist nursing skills, knowledge, and expertise to children, young people, and their families/carers with a diagnosis or potential diagnosis of epilepsy and will be a point of contact between primary, secondary, tertiary care, and the wider multi-disciplinary team. They will facilitate best practice and evidence-based care for children and young people with a diagnosis of epilepsy.

The Child Health Directorate is a multifaceted and dynamic directorate comprising a regional Children’s Critical Care Unit, an acute Medical ward, and a surgical and oncology inpatient ward with co-located surgical and oncology day case units. We have a children’s outpatient department at RSUH and the County site and two emergency portals of entrance, the Children’s Assessment Unit and the Children’s Emergency Department.

Qualifications
* Registered Children's Nurse on NMC Register
* Diploma in Nursing
* Evidence of degree level study in health/nursing related studies
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
* Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience to include 1 year experience in the Acute Setting.
* ENB 998 /Mentorship level 3 or equivalent or experience of teaching in the clinical areas
* Evidence of ongoing professional education in a specialist area
* Driving License
* Formal teaching to groups
