Department: Technical Documentation
Reports to: Technical Documentation Team Leader
We are delighted that due to our continued growth, we have a vacancy for a Technical Author (Pharma) within our Technical Documentation Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing and illustrating end user product support material including operation and maintenance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
As part of your role at Howorth, your responsibilities will include:
* Produce technically accurate product/process documentation.
* Professionally presented documentation written and illustrated to convey information clearly and concisely to users of varying technical ability and experience.
* Produce electronic versions of product manuals to minimise footprint of the documentation package and facilitate multi-platform viewing.
* All information to be provided in line with project target completion dates and key payment milestones.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
* Ability to liaise with design engineers to obtain source information, engineering drawings, parts lists, HMI screen shots etc.
* Confidently discuss technical issues with engineers and understand and absorb information quickly, and accurately.
* Interpret design documentation; schematic diagrams, arrangement drawings etc. in order to extract pertinent source information.
* Write clearly and concisely ensuring consistency in terminology to avoid ambiguity and subsequent doubt and confusion for the reader.
* Manipulate 3D models and import captured images into documents to illustrate functional specifications and user manual processes and procedures.
* Produce fully bookmarked PDF of documentation for uploading to client file sharing platform.
* Communicate and work with other departments to achieve company goals.
Desired Experience
* Have relevant experience in Engineering.
* Be able to read manufacturing drawings and engineering instructions.
* Work effectively and efficiently in a multi-disciplined team.
* Ability to convert technical subject matter and industry jargon into easily understood text.
* Identify the scope of documentation required to ensure safe, optimal operation and maintenance of the contract equipment.
* Important to have a comprehensive understanding of how the mechanical, electrical and pneumatic aspects of the equipment operate / interact / interlock to satisfy the system specification and customers’ process requirements.
* Proficient in use of MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.
