Health & Safety Consultant
Swindon • Full-time • £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
The successful candidate will lead a team of both employed Health, Safety & Fire Consultants as well as associates and be the first point of contact for all business compliance needs including Health & Safety and Fire Safety.
The role will involve Health, Safety and Fire consultancy client visits in addition to the overall line management of the consultants aided by the Director of Health & Safety Services.
You will be part of a very busy, vibrant and sociable health and safety team, and be regarded as the ‘font of all knowledge' for Health, Safety & Fire Safety.
Qualifications:
NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent (Desirable)
NEBOSH Certificate Fire Safety & Risk Management or fire safety-related qualification (Essential)
CMIOSH (Desirable)
Membership of a professional body (Essential to have at least one)
Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH)
Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE)
Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO)
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Experience of managing a team of H&S professionals or consultants within a professional health and safety consultancy.
Excellent all-around knowledge of health and safety throughout all industries.
Ability to research and advise the Senior Management Team of pertinent safety issues as required.
Assist with all health and safety queries from Consultants & Account Managers
Conversant with current legislation and competency to interpret legislation.
Experience of liaison with regulatory authorities such as Health & Safety Executive, Local Authority, Fire Authority, and be the first point of contact in any disputes.
Ability to carry out comprehensive health and safety services including audits and risk assessments, for clients in varying industries including health-care, manufacturing, commercial, retail, education,
Ability to carry out comprehensive fire risk assessments as required under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in above industries
Experience in developing and delivering health and safety training to include Fire Warden Training (including the use of fire extinguishers), fire awareness, manual handling etc
To formulate and write comprehensive health, safety and fire documents, including policies, evacuation procedures
Hold a full driving license
The role is home based with, but the candidate must be willing to travel nationally on occasion
Be flexible on working outside of normal hours
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be IT literate, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
