The School of Healthcare Enterprise and Innovation (SHEI) is welcoming applications for someone to manage the new School of Healthcare Enterprise & Innovation Design Suite, which will provide year-round support for the new MSc programme in Medical Technology Innovation and Design (MTID). We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will support our students in creating cutting-edge medical technology prototypes. This will involve ensuring the safe and effective running of the design suite and providing high-quality technical support for prototyping, using a range of tools for things such as 3D printing and basic electronics. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to teaching and academic publications, and the successful post-holder will be supported in Continuous Professional Development activity.
SHEI is a community of researchers, healthcare professionals and educators who champion the development of healthcare innovations that generate social change and economic benefits. The MTID programme is an ambitious and unique postgraduate programme for the UK; project-based, it brings together students from various disciplinary backgrounds to design new medical technologies, which address significant clinical problems in both UK and global healthcare contexts.
We are looking for candidates with experience or aptitude in managing facilities, budgets, and health and safety. Candidates should be able to demonstrate technical skills in 3D printing (including CAD), electronics (to at least a basic level), and laser cutting.
