Are you looking for an exciting role within the Children’s Families and Education department? This role could be for you! In this role, you’ll have the rewarding opportunity to work closely with schools and other agencies. You will be part of a dedicated team focused on delivering the Local Authorities key responsibilities in line with Working Together to Improve School Attendance. With responsibilities that range from collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure a ‘support first’ ethos in tackling and addressing issues that impact on school attendance. From providing advice and guidance to actively addressing barriers to school attendance, you’ll play a key role in improving school attendance for children.
As a key member of our team, you’ll engage with school leaders, internal and external partners, parents, and caregivers to ensure effective communication and collaborative planning. Your skills will be crucial in presenting and interpreting information for decision-makers, as well as in supporting ongoing compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidance. Working flexibly to meet the needs of our service, you’ll find that every day offers something new.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About you
You’re a seasoned professional with significant experience in social care, education, or healthcare, particularly in roles that involve children and families. You can quickly understand new information and apply it thoughtfully in various contexts. Your communication skills are exceptional—both in written reports and face-to-face interactions—allowing you to establish trust and credibility in schools, with senior leaders, and within multi-disciplinary teams.
You’re a problem-solver who balances empathy with accountability, adept at developing partnerships and working collaboratively toward solutions. Your organisational skills keep you on track even when juggling deadlines, and you’re skilled at analysing data to inform impactful decisions. You’re also attuned to promoting equal opportunities and are well-versed in legislation related to school attendance and child welfare.
Flexible, resourceful, and committed, you’re ready to contribute to a team that values your expertise, insight, and dedication to making a difference. We’re looking forward to seeing the impact you’ll make!
This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English.

Application Process
Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
