Role Overview
Commercial owns the contractual relationship with our customers, helping to develop customer engagement strategy, leading negotiations, and influencing innovative solutions. Every day is different, dealing with internal governance, financial performance, and meeting customer queries, bids, and demands across the globe. Commercial is the interface between the business and customer, enabling contractual commitments and changes.
Summary of Role
Working under the direction of the Commercial Manager, this role is an opportunity to join Raytheon’s Mission Critical Solutions business area during the development of new technologies and fast-turnaround sales opportunities of key products. The role is based within a complex commercial environment comprising multiple contracting methodologies and a varied international customer base. The work is interesting and challenging, exposing the incumbent to a full spectrum of customer and supplier interaction in addition to internal stakeholder management.
Main Duties
1. Respond to simple RFQs for standard equipment and services.
2. Support the Commercial team in preparation of responses to more complex Requests for Proposal/ITT/PQQs.
3. Implement and manage standard agreements, e.g., NDA, template contracts.
4. With supervision, provide support to Programme and Business Development teams throughout the prospecting and bidding process.
5. Support the business finance function to manage the invoicing and cash collection process.
6. Participate in cross-functional improvement activities.
7. Complete all commercial functional requirements from cradle-to-grave on supply contracts.
8. Understand export controls and compliance requirements including GDPR, Government classifications, etc.
9. Work with business teams to meet central targets and local challenges.
10. Understand policy requirements for the gate process and provide input to gate packs.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
1. Business degree or equivalent experience.
2. Ability to respond to tasks with tenacity and flexibility while working cross-functionally in a multi-disciplinary team.
3. Ability to remain calm under pressure and collaborate with others.
4. Attention to detail.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Understanding of Contract Management and Procurement principles.
7. Self-motivation and independent working.
8. Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within the UK.
Desirable:
1. Awareness of Data Protection and relevant commercial and contract legislation.
2. Attendance at customer and supplier meetings in support of supervisor.
3. Familiarity with business process management tools (IPDS, SAP or similar) and the competitive bidding process.
