THE OPPORTUNITY Time-Study Engineer We are looking for a Time-Study Engineer to join our team of experts in Manufacturing Engineering. As Time-Study Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring that our manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and on time. You will be responsible for conducting time, motion, and capacity studies to provide accurate and reliable timings for all manufacturing assembly operations. As Time-Study Engineer you will be responsible for leading time and motion studies to identify opportunities for improving overall efficiency and cost savings. You will analyse data and specifications to establish reasonable time allocation to meet relevant quality and production standards. You will also work with manufacturing quality engineers to design and coordinate all phases of the production process using industrial engineering principles and best practices. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES · Direct time and motion studies to identify opportunities to improve overall efficiency and cost savings relative to operatives, operations and facilities · Lead the observation and analysis of work procedures to determine the time and motion requirements of specific manufacturing operations and capabilities of manufacturing equipment. Conduct regular audits and review of studies · Analyse data and specifications to establish reasonable time allocation to meet the relevant quality and production standards · Use mathematical analysis to identify objective measurements of alternate work patterns · Apply industrial management techniques and principles to develop cost and time-saving recommendations and modifications to work methods, staffing requirements and skill rates · Work with Manufacturing Quality Engineers to design and coordinate all phases of the production process using industrial engineering principles and best practices · Collaborate with Finance Department to confirm related labour costs for products. May train technicians in time and motion techniques, methods, and principles · Recommend and implement process improvements, leading to cost reduction and increased efficiencies · Actively reduce waste in all its forms by championing lean manufacturing and value engineering techniques · Monitor and capture the impacts of engineering change requests in terms of capacity planning · Support production managers in terms of the definition of gang manning levels through the PSL system · To perform other duties as required and directed by Senior Management · Meet your health & safety responsibilities and co-operate with management to achieve a healthy and safe workplace, taking reasonable care of yourself and others. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE · Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related Engineering disciplines preferred · Minimum three years relevant experience in a related fast paced manufacturing industry with a demonstrable record of achievement in previous roles · Experience of Direct Observational Time Study (DOTS), Rated Activity Sampling (RAS) and Predetermined Motion Time Systems (PMTS) · Experience of best practice engineering tools and techniques and able to demonstrate skills and capabilities · Practical skills with knowledge and capabilities of typical production equipment and tools · Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems · Working Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma Continuous Improvement tools · Highly driven self-starter with an ability to deal with problems quickly and efficiently · Good interpersonal skills coupled with strong verbal, written communication and reporting skills · Ability to negotiate, plan and manage resources · Ability to work under pressure, to deadlines, whilst maintaining management disciplines · Fully IT literature ideally with advanced skills in MS Office and Project software (desirable)
