GRADUATE TEACHER OF MATHS, September 2025 for one year
Colfe's School seeks to recruit a graduate teacher of Maths for September 2025. Colfe's ( is a selective independent day school located near Blackheath/Lewisham, just over 10 minutes from London Bridge by rail.
The vacancy would suit a recent graduate or an undergraduate who is due to graduate this summer. The successful candidate will receive support and guidance and will assist other Mathematics teachers alongside teaching a substantially reduced timetable of their own. Previous experience of teaching is not essential but strong applicants will possess a suitable range of personal qualities and interests. The Maths Department consists of a team of 10 enthusiastic and approachable teachers who regularly share teaching ideas and resources. The department’s priorities are to help all students to achieve their full potential and to get students enthused about mathematics. We constantly review and improve our practice and strive to be excellent teachers.
At Key Stage Three, students are set by ability from January of Year 7 and follow a programme of study aligned to, but not dependent on, the Key Stage Three National Curriculum. We are particularly proud of the recent achievements of our students at IGCSE (all students sit IGCSE mathematics in year 11) where 67% of students achieved grade 9 or grade 8 and 100% achieved 9-5. The top set in year 11 also complete AQA IGCSE Further Maths which provides excellent preparation for A level and we were delighted that 71% of pupils taking the exam achieved an grade 9 and 100% achieved 9-8.
A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics are popular options for sixth form students and last year 56% gained an A* grades in Mathematics at A level. 83% achieved grades A*/A. 73% of Further Maths students achieved an A* and 100% gained A*/A grades.
We often support students with their preparation for Mathematical courses at university by encouraging them to read books about maths, arranging conferences and lectures and providing support for MAT, AEA and STEP.
The appointment will be for one year and the salary will be in the region of £35,000.
