Job Overview
This is an exciting time as we continue to develop the Perinatal Community Mental Health team in North Cumbria. The Perinatal Mental Health Service is a growing specialist service for women with mental health problems who are thinking of becoming pregnant, are already pregnant, or have given birth in the last 12 months.
You will need to be an experienced Mental Health Practitioner (we are inviting applications from a range of professional backgrounds) with a real passion for perinatal mental health. Experience in this field is not essential, and full induction is offered, but you will be required to develop a career in this area.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will be responsible for the coordination of care needs, assessment, planning, and implementation of evidence-based care to a defined group of service users and their carers within the service catchment area whilst under the guidance of senior staff. The post holder will provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multidisciplinary team.
This is a countywide based post providing individualized assessment and care to women whose pregnancy or postnatal period is complicated by serious mental illness which reflects the Trust's policy to engage service users and their carers in all aspects of their care and treatment.
Person Specification
Education & Qualification
* Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist.
* Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/psychological interventions/skills relevant to the post.
* Proven track record of post-registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
* Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults), and Child Protection.
* Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
* Post Registration Qualifications in Psychological Interventions.
* Experience of working within a community team.
* Non-Medical Prescribing.
Knowledge & Experience
* Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards, and other local and national initiatives.
* 12 to 24 months band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
* Understanding of difficult to manage/challenging behaviours.
* Proven ability to carry out and provide comprehensive written assessments of individuals with complex mental health needs.
* Risk Assessment and Risk Management/Safety Planning skills.
* Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence-based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Evidence of a high level of professional, organisational, and leadership skills (self & others).
* Ability to adapt within a changing environment.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to use electronic recording and relevant IT equipment.
* Ability to work effectively with other professionals using a multi-agency approach.
