Kent is a large county with lots of complex public health issues. You will have the ability to prioritise competing demands and objectives, coupled with diplomacy and a working knowledge of all areas of public health. You will need to be an experienced and skilled public health professional with a strong public health knowledge base. Post 1 : Focus is primarily on NHS Health Checks and there may be opportunity to work collaboratively on other aspects of CVD prevention. (1 year Fixed Term Full Time). In the role you will be responsible for the Adult Lifestyles portfolio, with a focus on the existing NHS Health Checks. You will work in collaboration Public Health Specialists responsible for Tobacco Control, Whole System Approach to Healthy Weight/Obesity to prevent long term conditions as well as contributing to the transformation programme. You will be responsible for leading work with partners to understand the extent to which Kent districts are ‘Age Friendly Communities’ – places where people are enabled to stay living in their homes, participate in the activities they value and contribute to their communities for as long as possible. You will have a talent for working with older people from all different communities and be able to use your public health expertise to co-develop a programme of meaningful work which is based on data, evidence and local need. You will be responsible for working with partners to prevent, detect and manage long term conditions in adults such as CVD, dementia, frailty, diabetes, cancer. You will be adept at analysing, digesting and communicating population health data and have a flair for making change happen. The key will be understanding the work that is already underway, often led by NHS colleagues, considering what are the best opportunities to bring about improvements to public health and then making those ideas a reality. The postholder may benefit from clinical knowledge and NHS experience, alongside public health expertise. (1 Year Fixed Term Full Time). You will have a keen interest and enthusiasm for improving the health of this population, a proven history in delivering public health projects and programmes, demonstrable partnership working, and the ability to embed strategy, policy and guidance to a high standard. You will be skilled in the use and analysis of data to inform policy and programmes. The role will be to develop, support, monitor, and review public health programmes; identify, and assess need.
