Locations of Work:
We currently have opportunities for Driving Routes in the Redcar and surrounding area offered on a Full or Part Time basis.
Hours of Work:
We offer shifts on a rotating 2-week cycle, all applicants must be flexible to work alternate weekends OR 1 day every weekend. Shift options are:
Mornings & Lunch 07.00 – 14.00
Teas & Evenings 16.00 – 22.00
Full Days 07.00 - 14.00 and 16.00 - 22.00
Other shifts and weekends only are available
Overview of Areas of Responsibility:
The role of the Senior Care Assistant is to provide person centred care and support to a person in all aspects of daily living. This support will be given in line with an agreed care plan and at the direction of the person so that changing needs can be safely met. The service operates 24 hours per day, 365 days a year.
The role of the Senior Care Assistant will provide care and support as outlined in range of duties.
· The Senior Care Assistant is required to lead and support all care staff which includes training, coaching, and mentoring new members of the team. The Senior Care Assistant will undertake relevant personal development training and upskilling to enable complex care to be provided. With expectation to work towards Level 3 Health & Social Care, this will be supported by the company.
· The Senior Care Assistant will be required to effectively respond and manage minor concerns to avoid a complaint being made or incidents raised in a timely manner.
· The Senior Care Assistant will act as a liaison person with the Out-of-Hours team and will respond flexibly to accept additional care visits when required.
Supervision and Guidance:
Responsible to the Care Manager who will offer guidance and support daily. The Senior Care Assistant is required to attend supervision with the Care Manager monthly.
Responsibilities:
The position of a Senior Care Assistant is a front-line role within service delivery which enables the person receiving care and support to lead as independent a lifestyle as possible.
The Senior Care Assistant is required to lead and support all new care staff which involves training, coaching, and mentoring to ensure high standards of quality care ensuring the service is safe.
This position will include a programme of personal care and household management that is personalised for each person in the form of a Care Plan. Care duties will therefore include supporting the person using services with the following activities and in so doing will observe and respect their dignity, privacy, and independence in line with Care 24-7’s policies and procedures:
Range OF Duties:
To assist people who use our service with all aspects of personal care including:
· Getting up, washed, and dressed.
· Getting ready for bed
· Having a bath or shower
· Going to the toilet
· Hair and nail care, make-up, shaving, oral care
· Support to take their own medication.
· Catheter care
· Help with meal preparation including eating and drinking.
To help people who use our service to participate in daily activities of their choice such as:
· Companionship on social activities and outings
· Crafts, reading and writing.
· Shopping, collecting prescriptions.
· Collecting pensions and benefits
· Paying bills
· Laundry and ironing
· Housework
· Lead and support all care staff which includes training, coaching, and mentoring new members of the team to ensure compliance with procedures and high-quality standard of care within the service.
· To conform to all policies and procedures laid down by Care 24-7 in respect of performing these care duties and other administrative aspects of the business, as relevant.
· Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
· To maintain accurate and timely records within the job role.
· To report concerns on any aspect of the person’s care that warrants investigation or urgent action.
· To participate in reviews of people using care and support services as required.
· Ensure a safe working environment for yourself, people using services and your work colleagues and report any concerns immediately.
· Participate in on-going professional supervision.
· Attend and actively participate in staff meetings.
· Commit to learning and developing yourself in your work and undertake any training or development programme to improve your personal skills.
· To support the management team with administration including learning the systems used Care Planner and Birdie and all the information that is required for each person. Including scheduling work and care planning.
· Ad hoc duties as required, and all work planned by the manager.
Duty of Confidentiality:
The use and sharing of personal information form an essential part of the provision of health and social care. It benefits the person using services, enables health and social care professionals to function effectively and is often necessary in the public interest. However, the essential nature of such uses needs to be set alongside the expectation that people using services have that all personal information will be kept confidential. All staff therefore have strong ethical and legal obligations to protect the person’s information. The right to confidentiality is guaranteed partly by the Data Protection Act 1998, 2003 & 2018, and Freedom of Information Act 2000.

· Care 24-7 is committed to maintaining and enhancing quality standards in all aspects of its service. Senior Care Assistants are required to work in line with:
· The policies and procedures of Care 24-7.
· To conform to the Home Care Association Code of Professional Conduct and Code of Conduct for Adult Social Care Workers in England.
· Follow best practice guidelines such as but not restricted to CQC, Health & Safety at Work Act etc.
