Fixed Term for 12 months We are looking for a new Assistant Psychologist to join our Clinical Health Psychology Service. We have 1 full-time post available for 12 months from start date. You will join the General Medical Psychology Team which consists of a Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist, more junior Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology (CAAP’s). This Assistant post enhances the skill mix of the General Medical Psychology Team and will contribute to work underway to address waiting times to treatment. The role will include supporting the delivery of “Better Living with Illness” groups and provision of 1:1 psychology guided self help treatments to patients with psychological difficulties related to a wide range of acute and long term physical health problems. The post holder will also contribute to the evaluation of the service, and to the development of evidence based practice. You will join an expanding, dynamic, well-established, supportive Clinical Health Psychology team, which includes Clinical Psychologists, CAAP’s (Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology) and other Assistant Psychologists. The wider Clinical Health Service consists of posts which are embedded within multidisciplinary medical teams across the areas of Pain Management, Rheumatology, Blood Borne Virus, Oncology, Intensive Care, Major Physical Trauma, Respiratory, Post Covid-19, Psychosexual and a General Medical Service which takes referrals for a wide range of other medical conditions. Clinical work is conducted via face to face, video conference and telephone appointments. Patient clinics take place in community locations across Fife and the two main hospitals located in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work, teaching and training and partnership work with other agencies. You will also play an active part in the Wider Fife Psychology Service, which consists of all the major psychology specialties, seeking opportunities for research, professional development and contributing to that of others. The post will be based at one of the two Psychology Service bases at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline or Stratheden Hospital, Cupar. The Fife Area-Wide Psychology Service is a large service comprising a range of clinical and health specialties, with extensive involvement in training, research and service development. Close links with Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee and St. Andrews Universities’ D. Clin.Psych and MSc courses continue and your professional development, CPD and research initiatives will be well supported. NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
