Our Opportunity
We currently have an opening in our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team for an HSE advisor to work night shift throughout our sites in the UK, but mostly in London. The role holder will engage with site engineers and night shift managers to ensure Health and Safety is top of mind and provide HSE support to our teams.
In this role, the post holder will be seen as the 'conscience' of our business and so you need to be disciplined, excellent at time management and stakeholder engagement, challenging employees at all levels if necessary.
This is an on-site role based in Beckton and Waterloo, and will work throughout the network where our works take place.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Submission of project / HSE dashboard reports as defined by HSE Manager
2. Completion of PGI's in line with defined programme
3. Input and production of incident investigation reports
4. Provide support and advice to Hitachi Rail GTS night management team
5. Deliver D&A testing
6. Represent Hitachi Rail at RSSB ISLG - Fatigue Working Group meeting and seminars
7. Investigate all incidents/accidents
8. Report incidents/accidents to Clients on behalf of Hitachi Rail GTS
Technical Skills and Experience
1. Ability to work accurately with attention to detail and to produce accurate reports
2. Ability to work and produce required information within tight timescales
3. Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint and Excel applications
4. Ability to produce and deliver HSE training
5. The ability to demonstrate pro-active engagement with all levels within projects to drive and promote leadership and behavioural change
6. Ability to develop HSE briefings and updates and present to large groups of people
7. Working knowledge of rail industry standards and Health and Safety / construction (CDM) regulations and Risk Assessment
Human Skills
1. Flexibility
2. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
3. Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital
4. Effective at managing your time and prioritisation
What to expect
We aim to complete a two-stage interview process, held in person at one of our offices - these can be on days or nights to suit. The interviews will focus separately on technical and behavioural competencies. Reasonable adjustments are available with prior notice so please let the TA partner know if this would be necessary.
