Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker within the Barking and Dagenham Adults Home Treatment Team.
B&DHTT is a Multi-Disciplinary Team which provides a specialist service for adults that present with a mental health crisis. The service is an alternative to hospital admission and works intensively with service users in their own home.
Main duties of the job
The post will provide specialist assessment and intervention to service users within the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham. You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide a co-ordinated service, contributing specialist knowledge and advice to others involved in the service user’s care.
The post holder needs to be an enthusiastic and innovative Social Worker with experience of working with adults.
The post holder will be expected to work across a 7 day a week rota including weekends and bank holidays and will need to be able to travel across sites in order to carry out their clinical duties (car parking pass is provided).

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735) (pro rata for part time staff).

Essential criteria
1. NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
2. Current RMN / HCP registration
3. Teaching qualification (ENB 998, TICS, MELPS etc)
Experience

4. Working with older people with complex, acute mental health needs.
5. Providing staff supervision and appraisal to both qualified and non-professionally aligned staff
6. Evidence of post-registration clinical development.
7. To have experience of assessing, planning implementing and evaluating aspects of care.
8. To have experience in working / liaising with multi-disciplinary teams and other agencies in the provision of care.
Knowledge

9. An awareness of NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities
10. The 1983 Mental Health Act and related legislation, codes of practice and guidance
11. Medication management
12. Policy Guidance relating to Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams.
