Job summary The post holder will manage the provision of specialist palliative care advice and support to people affected by life limiting illnesses. This will be achieved both directly through clinical practice and caseload management and indirectly through leadership, education, research, audit and professional activities taking into account corporate and directorate objectives and the clinical governance framework. Main duties of the job The aim of the post is to maximise the quality of life of patients with advanced life limiting disease and their families/carers, facilitating their care throughout their disease trajectory and into bereavement, and where possible, helping patients die in their place of choice. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and management of the Palliative Care Team at St Bartholomews Hospital, helping to facilitate high quality End of Life Care across the site and more widely networking across the Trust. They will also contribute to Trust, regional and national networks for specialist palliative care.
