Their clients span various industries, including civil nuclear, defence, aerospace, marine, and oil & gas.\n\nRole Overview\n\nReporting to the Commercial Manager, the Sales Estimator is responsible for sales proposals, technical customer relationship management, and driving profitable sales. This role involves analysing customer inquiries and technical drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates for manufacturing parts. You'll assess material costs, labour, machining time, tooling requirements, and overhead expenses to generate competitive quotes.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nReview requests for quotations and confirm that drawing requirements align with BEL’s capabilities and capacity.\n\nAnalyse technical drawings and understand machining processes.\n\nEstimate costs, time, labour, and materials required for manufacturing.\n\nPrepare accurate quotations and estimates for customers.\n\nEngage and negotiate with material and treatment subcontractors for quotations.\n\nCritically review subcontract proposals to ensure compliance with RFQs.\n\nDevelop sales proposals that meet required levels of margin.\n\nSupport the Business Development Manager by attending customer meetings as the technical lead.\n\nEngage with customers to support design for manufacturing projects and discussions.\n\nMaintain and develop strong customer relationships.\n\nIdentify opportunities for improvement to drive efficiencies and margin improvement.\n\nRespond to customer requests for quotations promptly.\n\nMentor and train team members when required.\n\nDomestic and international travel as required.\n\nEnsure compliance with BEL’s health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.\n\nAdhere to local health, safety, and environmental requirements when traveling or visiting other premises.\n\nPerson Specification\nExperience\n\n * Time-served machinist with strong knowledge of machining operations and processes.\n\n * Significant experience and understanding of the manufacturing industry within a build-to-print precision machining business.\n\n * Experience manufacturing components for industries such as Defence, Nuclear, and Aerospace.\n\n * Experience working with MRP/ERP systems.\n\nCompetencies\n\n * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.\n\n * Strong numerical and analytical skills.\n\n * Strong communication skills for dealing with customers and internal stakeholders.\n\n * Ability to build, develop, and manage relationships.\n\nQualifications\n\n * A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering (HNC or equivalent).\n\nOther Requirements\n\n * Subject to Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check and Security Clearance (SC)
